""ASICS continues to innovate in an eye-catching way with this shoe. A neutral everyday trainer, Novablast 5 has a shoe geometry that promotes soft landings and energized toe-offs. It also looks cool with its angular midsole. The FFBlast Max foam definitely feels responsive and the traction is very good with the AHAR Lo outsole. It also has reflective details for those running in the early morning or at night. It is on the lighter side of everyday trainers, so I also use it for speed work."" - Ian, Running Ambassador at DICK'S Sporting Goods Cedar Park, Texas

Like Running On Clouds!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these about a month ago and have nothing but good things to say! Incredibly comfortable and lightweight and I don’t even notice them on my runs - that’s all I can ask for! Didn’t take much to break them in and I’ve been raving about them to friends! 10/10

Great Everyday Running Shoe
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Novablast 5 is lightweight, comfortable, and provides plenty of cushioning without feeling too soft\. It has a nice bounce and feels great on both shorter runs and longer daily miles\. The fit is true to size, and I have not experienced any discomfort or break\-in period\. Overall, it is an excellent daily trainer that makes running more enjoyable.

First Pair
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My last pair or everyday running highly cushioned shoes were a pair of saucony ride and they were great, decided to try something different since I have owned many pair or asics shoes but nothing with the cushion as these - well worth the chance I took

Definitely Not A Nimbus.
I've only worn Asics Gel Nimbus since 2005, but the latest Nimbus (27 and 28) did not impress me as they've moved more towards excessive foam cushioning. The Gel is still in the shoe, but the foam dominates the feel, and makes the shoe ridiculously big like a boat. I decided to try Nimbus' cousin Cumulus, but it was unimpressive, so here I am with Novablast. I tried both the Novablast 5 and the new Novablast 6. I liked the color schemes of the 6 much better, but unfortunately the eyelets in the 6 dig into the top of my foot where the tendon meets the joint of the big toe making it extremely uncomfortable to wear. the 5 does not have this problem as the eyelets are spaced wider apart and sit higher on the foot. so I purchased the 5. The jacquard uppers are well built, breath nicely, and easy to clean with a squirt or two of spray 'n wash. The mid foot is a bit roomy, and traction is a bit lacking on wet surfaces as more surface area is foam than rubber. these shoes will squeak loudly on hard smooth surfaces such as tile, but that stops once they get scuffed in. The Novablast 5 started as stable with a responsive springy step, but by the 3rd day the stable part kind of disappeared leaving a marshmallow cushion under my feet. They're very comfortable, but I feel I have to make a conscious effort to not roll an ankle. The feel is noticeably different from the Nimbus. Nimbus is a highly refined damping machine. It compresses silky smooth removing all shock/vibration from the slap of the foot on the ground producing a very fluid stroke - very good for the knees. Novablast is like a spongy trampoline with a linear response. As the foam compresses, you can feel each individual air bubble in the foam, and there is a definitive start/end to the stroke - or maybe that's just because I'm used to the Gel. Being a pure foam shoe, Novablast will have shorter lifespan than the Gel cushioned shoes like Nimbus. I would look at Novablast as a short term intensive trainer. It's only good as long as the foam has life. Since foam tends to compact quicker than the tread wearing out, you want to get your miles out of the shoe before that happens. Once the foam compacts, time for a new shoe. Nimbus still has life as a walking shoe after the foam compacts due to the Gel cushioning which doesn't break down. I'm happy with Novablast at closeout price, but not at market price. I'm hoping my Novablast 5's will last long enough for Nimbus to course correct and return to it's roots.
