The Brooks Glycerin 23 improves on the Glycerin 22 with a better fit, slightly softer ride, and additional forefoot cushioning. While it faces stiff competition from other premium cushioned running shoes, it remains one of the most dependable daily trainers available. The only downfall is it is slightly heavier but it’s still a good running shoe.

Brooks Glycerin 23 Review – Disappointed After Loving The 22

I was really looking forward to the Glycerin 23 after how much I enjoyed the 22. Last year’s model had that soft, plush ride that made long runs (and especially marathon training) feel comfortable and enjoyable. I consistently finished runs feeling fresher in the 22. The 23 feels noticeably firmer. The plush, cushioned feel I expected from the Glycerin is missing, and I don’t get that same sense of freshness during or after my runs. My feet also feel a bit more fatigued afterward compared to the previous version. On top of that, the shoe feels heavier, and the extra weight doesn’t seem worth it given the firmer ride. In fact, the overall experience reminds me more of my Ghost shoes than the soft Glycerin feel I was hoping for. It’s unfortunate because I genuinely loved the previous version. Hopefully Brooks brings back more of that plush cushioning in future models.
