We've had three of these shirts in different sizes now and they definitely run slimmer and smaller all over compared to the size chart. For example, the size 8/9 that should have fit up to 55" was a little smaller all around than other his size 8 shirts and he grew out of it first by around 53", but the 10/12 is already fine for him because it's such a slim shirt (around the same time he's still wearing a mix of 8s and 10s otherwise, and no other size 12 tees yet).
