It's hard to find a truly waterproof shell jacket for kids that is also lightweight enough for active and warm weather use. I took the boys on a cold hike, and the jackets did great blocking wind without boiling them in their sweat. Then I took the boys out into a rainstorm, where the water beaded up on the jackets perfectly and they never wetted out (even my wife's rain jacket, from a certain outdoor equipment co-op's house brand, had wetted out by then). Plus the boys love the style of the jackets (they got the two camo options), so they not only wear them, but they're careful not to forget them at school. Couldn't ask for more from a kids' jacket.
